Overview
Located in the heart of downtown Fayetteville, Fayette County High School (FCHS) has a longstanding history of tradition and achievement in academics, athletics, and the fine arts.
Chartered in 1925, it is the district's only high school recognized as a National Blue Ribbon School of Excellence. It is also accredited by AdvanceED, a non-partisan organization known for its rigorous on-site reviews to ensure that all learners realize their full potential.
FCHS offers students a four-year comprehensive program and a vigorous and competitive curriculum within a seven-period day.

Curriculum & Graduation Requirements
The school year is divided into two semesters, each having two nine-week periods. Each school day consists of seven periods, 50 minutes in length.
Each semester course passed receives one-half (.5) Carnegie unit of credit.

Only Quality Point GPA is reported on a student's transcript.

Advanced Placement Courses
Course assignment is by PSAT/AP Potential or application only during the month of January for the following year.
More than 500 exams are given each spring. A requirement of each Advanced Placement course is taking the respective AP Exam in May.
