What is GATutor?
GaTutor is a free online tutoring program for 9th‐12th grade public school students powered by Georgia Virtual Learning. It provides one‐on‐one tutoring sessions with Georgia‐certified teachers who have expertise in various content areas and are eager to assist students in their quest for academic excellence.
When are tutoring sessions held?
GaTutor prioritizes flexibility, allowing students to choose dates and times for their sessions based on their schedules. We offer tutoring availability on weekday evenings, as well as Saturdays and Sundays, allowing students to book each session at their convenience, ensuring a seamless fit with their unique needs. Sessions are 25 minutes and must be scheduled 2+ hours in advance.
What is the framework for each tutoring session?
The tutoring session framework is as follows:
2 minutes: Welcome and Introductions – Build rapport and set a positive tone for the session.
3 minutes: Determine Session Focus and Plan – Questioning and prompting to find out what help the student needs.
15 minutes: Content Focus and Practice – Main portion of session. Using a variety of teaching strategies.
5 minutes: Wrap Up and Suggestions – Summary of what was covered and recommendations for continued learning.
